Lender Register

About Lender Register

Lender Register publishes the public record of every mortgage lender that reports under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act: 4,716 institutions with at least 25 applications in 2024, their applications, originations, denial rates, rate spreads, loan mix and denial reasons as coded, placed beside their states, their counties and the national figures so a number can be read in context rather than in isolation. It adds the Department of Veterans Affairs' monthly lender statistics for VA-guaranteed loans.

What it is for

Borrowers comparing lenders, mortgage brokers, housing researchers and reporters, and lenders benchmarking themselves all use the same HMDA files. The CFPB's Data Browser presents one query at a time; this site adds the per-lender pages, the state and county pages, the comparisons and the year-on-year trend that the raw files do not offer.

What it leaves out

Funding

The site is free and funded by advertising that is clearly labelled. Advertisers have no influence over which lenders appear or how their records are presented. Lender pages carry no sponsor placements.

Updates and corrections

The HMDA annual files are rebuilt into the site when the FFIEC publishes a new snapshot, and VA monthly tables are added as VA publishes them. If a figure here differs from the CFPB's Data Browser or a lender's own filing, the CFPB record is authoritative; see corrections and the methodology.
