Conventional loans
A conventional loan is one not insured or guaranteed by a federal agency: it carries no FHA insurance and no VA, USDA Rural Housing Service or Farm Service Agency guarantee. HMDA loan type code 1.
HMDA data alone cannot be used to determine whether a lender is complying with fair lending laws. The data do not include some legitimate credit risk considerations for loan approval and loan pricing decisions.
